Question 2

Marcus joins a local high-performance running club. On his first group session, he notices everyone wears barefoot-style minimalist running shoes and performs a specific 15-minute dynamic mobility routine before setting off. Although Marcus privately thinks the dynamic routine is unnecessary and prefers his heavily cushioned traditional running shoes, he performs the mobility routine and buys a pair of minimalist shoes so he does not stand out or look amateurish. Later, after reading several peer-reviewed sports science articles shared by the club's coach explaining how minimalist shoes reduce injury rates, Marcus becomes genuinely convinced of their benefits. He now wears minimalist shoes for all his personal solo runs and does the dynamic routine daily at home.

Discuss normative social influence and informational social influence as explanations for conformity. Refer to Marcus's behaviour in your answer.
