Question 14

Julian describes his daily experience:

'Whenever I have to attend meetings on the tenth floor of our office building, I feel an overwhelming sense of dread. Even looking at the elevator doors makes my heart race and I start trembling. I always take the stairs instead, even if I am carrying heavy boxes of files. When I enter any meeting room, I immediately look for the nearest open window or exit and keep staring at it so I know how to escape.'

Outline two characteristics of phobias. Refer to Julian in your answer.
