Clinical Trial on OCD Management

Dr. Vance conducted a 16-week clinical trial to investigate the therapeutic outcomes of different treatment regimes for individuals diagnosed with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

Sixty patients with moderate-to-severe OCD were randomly allocated to one of three treatment groups:

  • Group 1 received daily doses of Fluoxetine, a Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI).
  • Group 2 underwent a structured course of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
  • Group 3 received a placebo capsule daily.

After 16 weeks, clinical assessments showed that both Group 1 and Group 2 exhibited a significant reduction in obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviours compared to Group 3.

Evaluate the biological treatment for OCD identified in the clinical trial above.
