Question 9

Item: The Apex Advert

A television advertisement for a new high-protein energy bar, called 'Apex', shows a famous female Olympic gymnast struggling to lift a heavy stack of training mats in a gym.

The gymnast looks exhausted and sighs. A teenage girl nearby says, 'Unleash your inner apex predator!' and hands her an Apex bar. The gymnast takes a bite, strikes a powerful superhero pose, winks at the camera, and the teenage girl cheers. The gymnast then easily lifts the heavy stack of mats with one hand.

The advertisement ends with the onscreen text: 'Reach your peak with Apex.'

Using your knowledge of Social Learning Theory, explain how the Apex advert might influence viewers' mediational processes.
