Resonance and damping

What is the natural frequency of a system?

A

The frequency at which a system loses energy and its oscillation amplitude decreases because of damping.

B

The frequency at which a system oscillates with maximum amplitude when an external driving force produces resonance.

C

The frequency at which a system oscillates when displaced and allowed to oscillate freely without an external driving force.

D

The frequency at which a system oscillates when forced to follow the frequency of an external driver.
