How do you check whether (x,y)(x,y)(x,y) solves simultaneous equations?
A simultaneous solution is an ordered pair (x,y)(x,y)(x,y) that satisfies every equation in the system.
Substituting a linear equation into a quadratic equation usually produces a quadratic in one variable, which may have two valid roots.
It gives a repeated root, so there is one intersection.
Substitute it into both original equations.
1.2.6 Algebra and Functions Flashcards
Flashcards for WJEC A Level Maths 1.2.6 Algebra and Functions, covering the key formulae, methods and definitions you need to recall for AS Unit 1, AS Unit 2, A2 Unit 3 and A2 Unit 4. 24 cards, matched to the WJEC A Level Maths (1300QS) specification. Recall questions account for roughly 50% of marks at A Level Maths, so these target the marks you can secure before the paper starts.
