What is the relationship between integration and differentiation?

A

To integrate a power of xxx using the reverse power rule: increase the power by 1, then divide by the new power.

B

Find the xxx-coordinates of the intersection points by setting the two equations equal to each other.

C

To integrate roots or fractions, rewrite them as powers:

  • x=\sqrt{x} =x​= x12x^{\frac{1}{2}}x21​
  • 1xn=\frac{1}{x^n} =xn1​= x−n\boxed{x^{-n}}x−n​

D

Integration is reverse differentiation (finding the antiderivative).
