Integration

What is the relationship between integration and differentiation?

A

Integration is reverse differentiation (finding the antiderivative).

To integrate roots or fractions, rewrite them as powers:

  • x=\sqrt{x} =x​= x12\boxed{x^{\frac{1}{2}}}x21​​
  • 1xn=\frac{1}{x^n} =xn1​= x−nx^{-n}x−n

  • Indefinite: A function (family of curves).
  • Definite: A number (often representing area).
