Question 20

In this question use g=9.8g = 9.8g=9.8 m s−2^{-2}−2.

A non-uniform rod AB AB\,AB has length 200 cm and mass 15 kg. A particle of mass 10 kg is attached to the rod at CCC, where AC=40AC = 40AC=40 cm.

The rod is held in horizontal equilibrium by two vertical light inextensible strings attached to the rod at A A\,A and at BBB. The tension in the string at A A\,A is 10 N greater than the tension in the string at BBB.

Figure for question 8

Find the distance of the centre of mass of the rod from AAA, giving your answer to the nearest centimetre.
