Qualified rights and interference
A Convention right is protected by the European Convention on Human Rights and given effect in UK law by the Human Rights Act 1998. Under s6 HRA, a public authority acts unlawfully if it behaves incompatibly with a Convention right, and under s7 a victim can bring proceedings.
