Dynamic equilibrium
Dynamic equilibrium
A reversible reaction can proceed in both directions, for example N2(g)+3H2(g)⇌2NH3(g)N_2(g) + 3H_2(g) \rightleftharpoons 2NH_3(g)N2(g)+3H2(g)⇌2NH3(g). In a closed system, none of the substances can escape, so both directions can continue.
