What the mole measures

Concept map linking amount of substance in the centre to particles, mass, solution concentration, gas measurements and balanced equation ratios Amount of substance, symbol nnn, tells us how many specified entities are present. The entities could be atoms, molecules, ions or electrons. One mole contains 6.02×10236.02 \times 10^{23}6.02×1023 entities, called the Avogadro constant, L=6.02×1023 mol−1L = 6.02 \times 10^{23} \, \text{mol}^{-1}L=6.02×1023mol−1.
