From muscle to sarcomere

Hierarchy from skeletal muscle to muscle fibre to myofibril and a comparison of relaxed and contracted sarcomeres with Z lines, actin, myosin, A band, I band, H zone, and M line labelled Skeletal muscle is organised in a hierarchy: whole muscle contains muscle fibres, fibres contain myofibrils, and myofibrils contain repeating sarcomeres. The sarcomere is the basic contractile unit.
