Question 13

In an isolated population of Soay sheep, a light-coloured fleece is caused by an autosomal recessive allele. An ecological survey reveals that 4% of this population display the light-fleece phenotype.

Assuming the population is in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, use the Hardy-Weinberg equations to calculate the percentage of the population that are heterozygous (carriers) for this allele. Show your working.
