Genes, alleles and phenotype

Genes, alleles and phenotype

Homologous chromosomes with allele A and allele a at the same locus, showing genotype Aa and phenotype also influenced by environment

Inheritance explains how alleles are passed from parents to offspring. In a diploid organism, homologous chromosomes carry the same genes at the same loci, but they can carry different alleles.

Inheritance (A-level only) Lesson

  3. /Inheritance (A-level only)

Step-by-step lessons covering AQA A Level Biology Inheritance (A-level only) for A Level Biology. Each lesson works through exam-style questions in Paper 1, Paper 2 and Paper 3 format. Build a strong foundation in cell biology and biochemistry early on, since later topics on genetics, ecology and physiology all draw on these core concepts.
